the NFL desperately needs to change this guaranteed money crap for the top ten draft picks. With the over hyped NFL drafts 24 hours away, the question looms; why even draft in the top ten. Their are rumors floating around that the Detroit Lions(they have the #1 pick) are considering not even drafting anyone. Once a team is "on the clock" they have ten minutes to make a selection. Fail to do so and the pick would go to the next team. The Wacky NFL rules force teams to guarantee money for the top picks, so if they did take Stafford at number one they would be forced to give over thirty million$ in guaranteed money to him. Considering Detroit is becoming a ghost town in front of our eyes its seems ludicrous to give a kid who's never taken a snap in the NFL that kind of money. Not only that, it tears locker rooms apart, imagine a proven veteran accepting a kid who makes three times as much as him, and more than half the time these top picks are complete busts. No other company in the world would even contemplate such hypocrisy. So come on NFL... get it right and make these kids prove themselves.
